One million two hundred fifty thousand CFA francs
Un million deux cent cinquante mille francs CFA
Arrêtée la présente facture à la somme de un million deux cent cinquante mille francs CFA.
How it is calculated
English uses the short scale without “and”, as on a cheque: one hundred five CFA francs, one million twenty-one CFA francs.
French follows the traditional spelling by default: vingt et un; quatre-vingts but quatre-vingt-un; deux cents but deux cent mille; mille never takes an s.
Million and milliard are nouns: they take an s in the plural, and are followed by “de” when the amount stops there (un million de francs CFA).
The 1990 French spelling reform joins every numeral with hyphens (deux-cent-mille), except million and milliard. Both spellings are correct.
